Naturally Dyed Silk Scarf
Hand Rolled Hem
Silk Scarf Habotai 8mm
8" x 72"
One of a Kind
This is a one of a kind silk scarf that was hand dyed with the hulls of black walnuts, eucalyptus and rust. It was also Shibori Dyed (a Japanese form of dyeing that revolves around different ways of binding and folding fabric to create different patterns).
The process: Colors and prints of each scarf are made from a transfer of pigments and images of actual leaves and/or other natural materials onto a blank silk scarf through a process of wrapping the scarf (covered with leaves) tightly around a dowel. The bundled dowel is then either simmered or steamed. When cool, the scarf is unrolled from the dowel, the leaves and/or materials are peeled away from the fabric and voila---a unique one of a kind scarf!
To care for the silk scarf, hand wash in cool water with a mild soap and hang dry or iron using the silk setting.
Due to the organic elements, color may vary slightly over time.
