Naturally Dyed Silk Scarf
Hand Rolled Hem
Silk Scarf Habotai 8mm
14" x 72"
One of a Kind
This is a one of a kind habotai silk scarf that was hand dyed in a light walnut hull and copper bath with mostly sumac leaves. The patterns are very subtle on this golden scarf.
The process: Colors and prints of each scarf are made from a transfer of pigments and images of actual leaves and/or other natural materials onto a blank silk scarf through a process of wrapping the scarf (covered with leaves) tightly around a dowel. The bundled dowel is then either simmered or steamed. When cool, the scarf is unrolled from the dowel, the leaves and/or materials are peeled away from the fabric and voila---a unique one of a kind scarf!
To care for the silk scarf, hand wash in cool water with a mild soap and hang dry or iron using the silk setting.
Due to the organic elements, color may vary slightly over time.
